Hello Friends!
How are you? How is your summer going?
Well, I have come back to New York from Europe after two months there! My new American visa has been approved so expect me to stick around for another three years!
Europe was delightful of course and it was hard to leave. I was able to relax and enjoy quality time with family and friends. I ate a lot of delicious food, enjoyed the nice weather, which was not overwhelmingly hot, and moved around quite a bit. Nothing to complain about!
I took a little trip to Crete with my sister for a few days and had a wonderful time on this historic and beautiful island. I even learned a few Greek words although there were so many tourists there, you could barely hear any Greek spoken at all.
In Switzerland, I was able to go see a wonderful concert at the Montreux Jazz Festival. The singer ASA was opening. I did not know her but I loved her music, her vibe and her performance. Seal was the main act and he was magnificent. He had so much energy and was so friendly and laid-back. He definitely knows how to interact with the audience and even got the whole auditorium to waltz on "Kiss From A Rose".
I look forward to seeing all my New York friends now that I have returned! And here are some opportunities:
I will be playing a couple of shows in the next few weeks:
The Bitter End on August 15th at 8pm
New York SongCircle series
It is always an honor to be invited to play with some of the best Singer-Songwriters that are around these days and it is a wonderful opportunity for you to discover some great new music. Five musicians take turns to play a song, tell you why and how they wrote it and it always turns into a great evening. Please come out to show your support!
Find out more at: www.songcirclemusic.com - there is a $10 cover charge at the door.
The Living Room on August 23rd at 7pm - FREE
We will be playing a 45minute set as our little trio formation with Matt Wigton on bass or piano or accordion and Rob Ritchie on guitar or mandolin or back-up dancer... ok maybe not, but we will have fun! Let me know if you have some song requests!!
Please give me your updates and what your plans are for the summer!
Bisous,
Joséphine
French Word of the Month
Aah, the beauty of French Costumer Service... I was trying to find out some information and here is what the woman I was talking to - who should have at least, been able to give me some direction - replied:
"Quand vous allez chez le boucher, vous ne demandez pas une baguette!!"
"When you go to the butcher, you don't ask for a baguette!!"
Classic.
