April 12, 2017 Hi, happy spring and vernal equinox. We have been hard at work and I just want to share what has been going on: "Wake Up" Music Video The new video for "Wake Up" in UV Glow Paint by shamanic artist Tico Chango is up for viewing. It has a message about our water, our environment and fragile relationship with this very earth that I hope you will resonate with! This re-mix version of my tune Wake Up was produced by the one and only Chico Mann! Please watch it and share it freely :) SU-Casa Grant I have been hard at work in my first year as a recipient of the SU-Casa grant which has partnered me with the wonderful Diana H. Jones Senior Center where I am leading a music program in Latin percussion, singing and songwriting. We will have our final performance in June! Professor Drake and Arts and Education
This is also my first year teaching a course at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in "Popular Music of the Caribbean" and I just got re-appointed for next year. Professor Drake!

ZapOte is gearing up for our performances and workshops at the Belize International Jazz Festival June 10, 11 and 12, Belize City, Belize!
The Funky Foxes
Exciting news! I am part of a new band that has been launched between members of ZapOte and Mike Camacho from the 1980s band "Sly Fox" called the Funky Foxes! We have some regular shows coming up at Mr. Camacho's establishment in the East Village. Check them out:
Fulaso I have also officially joined the band Fulaso as the Conguera and we just had a show at Lincoln Center! We will be playing Hartford's International Festival of Arts and Ideas on June 17th. Karikatura I will be playing bass with the band Karikatura in Europe this summer in July and August starting with a residency in Denmark and traveling East to play the Serbia Jazz Festival. Lots of shows lined up. Look out!!
